In the beginning... The Inklets is a creative writing group made up of a number of friends from all over the country, bound together by a love for all matters of the pen. A creative writing course at the University of Leeds, UK, where we are all studying for very different degrees, first brought us together in 2005. We found that producing work in a friendly, supportive atmosphere (with the help of soup and hot chocolate) worked well for us, and some time after the course finished, we decided to come together again on a regular basis, and with a swanky name of our own. The Inklets was born. We currently meet once every ten days to read our creations aloud, provide feedback for each others’ work, and eat inordinate amounts of biscuits. All types of poetry and prose are welcome, and we aim to produce work both as a group, and to encourage one another in individual writing projects. All of us lead busy lives, and we know that the support of a group helps to keep creative momentum going and the inspiration flowing. Our website exists to help you do the same. We hope that this site will help to spread our passion for writing and encourage you to make use of the amazing imagination within yourself.
